Igneous Rocks

  • Formed when lava cools.

  • Basalt is the most common igneous rock.
  • Made mostly of minerals.

  • Is also made of feldspar.

  • Has tiny holes in the rock.
  • Rough and scratchy.

  • Cools very quickly.
  • Forms sharp edges.

Sedimentary Rocks

  • Are formed when sediments are put under great pressure.

Conglomerate

  • Formed from larger pieces of sediment.
  • Can be as big as boulders
