BACKGROUND
- He was born in Lonquén, Chile
- Jara was raised in poverty by farmers
- He left school at age 15
- Jara studied theater originally
- He really enjoyed Violeta Parra music and this sparked his interest in music.
MUSIC CAREER
- He enjoyed folk music which influenced his style of music
- He enjoyed this type of music because their was always a meaning or story behind the music.
- He hid secret messages in his music like on of his songs was called Venceremos which talks about

WHAT WAS PROTESTED
- He protested how the government treated the people of the country
HOW DID HE COMBAT
- He combated them in his songs and he was killed because he was going “against” his own country
HOW WAS HE TORTURED
- His fingers were smashed so he couldn’t play his guitar and he was persecuted in front of other prisoners
HOW HE AFFECTED THE WORLD
- He showed that no matter who you are you can fight for what’s right.
