ACTION WORD’S

AN ACTION VERB IS A VERB THAT DESCRIBES AN ACTION, LIKE RUN, JUMP, KICK, EAT, BREAK, CRY, SMILE, OR THINK.

LINKING VERB’S

Linking verbs are verbs that serve as a connection between a subject and further information about that subject.

HELPING VERB’S

HELPING VERBS (SOMETIMES CALLED AUXILIARY VERBS) ARE, AS THE NAME SUGGESTS, VERBS THAT HELP ANOTHER VERB.

POINTS TO REMEMBER

  • When a sentence in either the Present Simple or Past Simple tenses has to be as a main verb
  • Remember also that when you describe something using ‘There is/are’, the verb must agree with the first item you mention.
