WHAT WAS IN THE CABINS

  • Cold and cramped.
  • Soggy dirt floors.
  • Fireplaces provided some heat.
  • No windows.
  • 12 soldiers in each cabin.
  • Thick smoke filled the cabins.

Starvation, disease, malnutrition, and exposure to the elements killed more than 2,500 American soldiers by the end of February 1778. No battle was ever fought at Valley Forge, but it was the turning point of the Revolutionary War.
