Vaccinations are a to protect you against many travel-related infections, such as yellow fever A.
In the UK, the childhood vaccination programme protects you against a number of diseases such as tetanus, but it does not cover most of the infectious diseases that are found overseas.

Edward Jenner, FRS was an English physician and scientist who was the pioneer of smallpox vaccine, the world's first vaccine.

& Died on January 26, 1823,

& was Educated at the University of St Andrews in 1792 but moved to The University of London, St George's

In 1796, he carried out his now famous experiment on eight-year-old James Phipps. Jenner inserted pus from cowpox and inserted it into the boy's arm.

A milkmaids who suffered the mild disease of cowpox never caught smallpox one of the greatest killers of the period, particularly among children. Jenner proved that having been inoculated with cowpox Phipps was immune to smallpox.
