Using Slopes and Intercepts

Standard Form and Slope-Intercept Form and ways to graph equations.

x-intercept

This is the ordered pair (x,0) where a line hits the x-axis.

y-intercept

This is the ordered pair (0,y) where a line hits the y-axis.

Slope-Intercept Form

y=mx+b; may use m and (0,b) to graph line or create a function table

Standard Form

Ax + By = C; can use this form to get x and y- intercepts to graph line.

Examples of Linear Equations Graphed

Goal: Reading the graphs, find the x and y-intercepts.
