Unions were created. Working conditions were updated and were held to reasonable standards. Massive production of food was inspected. Children labor laws were enacted. Pollution were reduced and sanitation was improved.

WHAT ARE THE REASONS FOR & THE RESULTS OF THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR?

Spain was thought to have attacked American citizens at sea. The United States wanted to relieve Spanish colonies of harsh rule. The United States wanted to expand itself. Guam would provide the United States with a Pacific naval base.

The United States acquired Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines. Spain was no longer a problem for the Islanders. Puerto Rico wanted to be part of the United States. Today it still currently exists as a commonwealth and territory of the United States.
