Uranus is an outer planet. Located between Saturn and Neptune. Uranus is named after a Greek god of the sky. According to a myth the Greek god of Uranus was the father of Saturn and grandfather of Jupiter.

Uranus is a gas giant. Uranus's atmosphere is made out of methane and hydrogen. It has liquid hydrogen. Uranus's rings are made of ice.

The mean radius of Uranus is 15,517 miles. Uranus's diameter is four times that of Earth. It measures 31,518 miles.

One day on Uranus is17 hours and 24 seconds. One year on Uranus is 18.07 Earth years.

William Herschel discovered Uranus. William Herschel discovered Uranus on the date December 13, 1781.

Interesting facts about Uranus are Uranus orbits on its side. 12 space probes were sent to Uranus. Only one flew really close. That one is called Voyager Two. Uranus was the first discovered planet with the use of a telescope. Uranus's maximum distance from the Sun is 3 billion kilometers.

I chose Uranus because it sounded interesting when I herd that it orbits on its side. Also, because I wanted to choose a gas giant and an outer planet. I also chose Uranus because I did not know much about Uranus.
