• The film "Cartel Land" is a ground look at today's modern-day vigilante groups in Mexico and the Arizona border.
• Matthew follows a leader of a Mexican vigilante group, Dr. Jose Mireles(El Doctor)

• Across the U.S. Arizona border, Heineman follows " Nailer" the leader of a paramilitary group.
• Heineman follows both men as they fight the war on drugs in order to track and document their actions.

SPEAKERS

• The speakers through out the movie are Dr. Mireles as well as countless Mexicans apart of his vigilante group the "El Grupo de Autodefensa"
• And across the Mexican- Arizona border the speaker is Tim "Nailer" Foley, the leader of the Arizona Border Recon as well as some of his counterparts.

PURPOSE

• The purpose of both groups is too put an end to Mexican drug cartels from distributing drugs across Mexico and within the United States (ABR)
• But what is Matthew Heinemans Purpose for this documentary?

MATTHEW'S PURPOSE

• Matthew Heineman's purpose behind the documentary is to show how effective these vigilante groups are and there underlining motive and the development of these groups. Are they doing good?

THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR

• The Knights Templar is the main drug cartel focused in this documentary as it follows the state of Michoacán, Mexico, the foundation of the Knights Templar.

EL GRUPO DE AUTODEFENSA

• The goal of the Autodefensa is too stop the Knights Templar and eventually all drug cartels from distributing drugs and killing the Mexican people, as the Mexican government is corrupt and in fact aid the cartels.

ARIZONA BORDER RECON

• The ABR seek to stop any illegal border crossing of drugs as well as human trafficking through the Arizona border.

MESSAGE

• The message throughout the film is that corruption causes other to become corrupt and as long as there is pain and suffering people will continue to commit crime; everyone eventually succumbs to crime in order to possess fortune and/or escape poverty.

THE AUDIENCE

• The audience is the human population in order to inform the general public the true sadness and atrocities that are occurring not only across the border but in our own country.

THE END CLAIM

• Matthew Heineman's main objective was to show how this "line" between good and bad can shift and how through influence and corruption this line can change dramatically.
• Matthew also showed a realistic and never ending conflict in the world; Drugs.
