PRESENTATION OUTLINE

DELANO GRAPE STRIKE

BY MARLEN RENDON & DAISY HUAMAN

The boycott started on September 8, 1965 .

The farm laborers were mad because they were the workers in the US that got paid the least.

Filipino workers in Delano, California, walked off the job. Cesar Chavez joined in and formed what eventually became the United Farm workers of America. Aggressive boycotts and community marches were created.

By 1970, the grape boycott was a complete success. Table grape growers at long last signed their first union contracts, granting workers better pay, benefits, and protections.
