  • I- Their name, Paleo, actually comes from the Greek word “palaios,” meaning ancient.

  • S- They traveled in tribes of between 20 and 50 people, carrying their belongings on their back.

K- ARCHAIC CULTURE

  • I- The Archaic people moved around to different areas to gather foods at different times of the year.

  • S- The Archaic people knew very well how to survive.

K- WOODLAND CULTURE

  • I- The Woodland cultures were characterized by the raising of corn (maize), beans, and squash,

  • S- Also, the fashioning of particular styles of pottery, and the building of burial mounds.

K- MISSISSIPPIAN CULTURE

  • I- The Mississippian culture was a mound-building Native American culture.

  • S- Mississippian people were horticulturalists.

  • I- Evolution is the change in the inherited characteristics of biological populations over successive generations.

  • I- The Spanish missions in Georgia comprise a series of religious outposts established by Spanish Catholics.

  • S- An example of a spanish mission is the Alamo.

K- HERNANDO DE SOTO

  • I- Hernando de Soto was a Spanish explorer and conquistador.
  • M-
  • S- He led the first European expedition deep into the territory of the modern-day United States.
