BY BLAKE CHOUINARD

THE NEW PRESIDENT

  • This all started when president Rodrigo Duterte was elected on June 30th, 2016
  • This leader promotes mass killings of suspected criminals to fight the war on drugs
  • He also has policies limiting sexual education which is leading to one of the worlds largest HIV epidemics

THE WAR ON DRUGS

  • Rodrigo publicly praises the Idea of extrajudicial killings of suspected drug users/ dealers
  • This led to thousands of killings by police who claim it is self defense, however no details or efforts are being made to investigate these deaths.
  • As a result, people are losing their rights as humans to a fair trial

HIV EPIDEMIC

  • Because of the lack of sexual education in this country, they are now having the largest HIV epidemic in years

THE OUTCOME

  • Now there is an alarming decrease rate of population in the Philippines
  • The U.S. Now is refusing to help fund the Philippines poor country to aid civilians as a result of their govt. taking away basic constitutional rights which the U.S. Strongly believes in
  • This could also have an affect on the U.S. , we have many immigrants from all over which means they could come in and bring the HIV with them
