Short Term vs. Long Term Goals

A short term goal is something that can be accomplished in under a year. A long term goal is something that takes longer than a year to accomplish

NEEDS VS. WANTS

A need is something that is needed for life for example water is a need because you can't live without it. A want is something you can live without for example I don't need my phone I could survive without it

TYPES OF LEARNERS

  • Auditory
  • Visual
  • Kinesthetic

Auditory learners learn by listening. Visual learners learn by observing. And kinesthetic learners learn by doing.

Study tips

  • Auditory learners could participate in discussions or record lectures.
  • Visual learners could write things down or use flashcards.
  • Kinesthetic learners could use examples or study with other people.

DECISION MAKING

Individual decision- making it for yourself a decision that will affect yourself
Family decision- a decision that will affect you and your family, this decision should be made together.

Analyzing decisions. You should carefully analyze your decision and see if it is the right choice before taking action.

Decision making skills. You should be aware of the challenges you will face. Know the choices you are making. And you should be aware of the consequences.

Personal intervention is when you take care of the issue yourself, this isn't always the best option. Professional assistance is seeking help from a trained professional this is usually the better, safer method.

Assess the well being of people and family members with disadvantaging conditions. If you know someone with a disadvantaging condition like bipolar or depression, be considerate and try to understand. Also be observant of their behavior if they behave strangely they could be at risk of suicide if they are at a low.

COMMUNICATION

Active listening is paying attention to details and engaging yourself in the conversation and actually listening. Inactive listening is when your not paying attention and not listening to the conversation.

TYPES OF COMMUNICATION

  • Verbal. Speaking out loud.
  • Non verbal. Using gestures and body language to communicate.
  • Written. Writing your message in a text or email, this form of communication is not usually done in face to face conversations.

RELATIONSHIPS

Building and maintaining personal relationships. Build the relationship on trust have a mutual respect for one another have open communication.

A healthy relationship has trust, support, respect, and open communication. An unhealthy relationship has possessiveness, intimidation, humiliation, and blame.

How to handle a unhealthy relationship. Tell someone if you are in danger. Know that it's not your fault if you are the victim and if you are the abuser realize your actions.
