PRESENTATION OUTLINE

The renaissance started in 14th century to 17th century.Florence Italy in 1400.

It ended around 1700.

5 MAJOR EVENTS

  • Columbus landed in the Caribbean, on October 12th 1492.
  • In 1533 Henry VIII became the head of the English church.
  • Humanism was the philosophical structure during the renaissance.
  • The Inquisition took place all over the renaissance.
  • The Aztecs lived during the renaissance.Their architecture was similar to the romans.

WHY ARE THE EVENTS IMPORTANT

There were two main types of dances during the Renaissance: court dances and country dances. Court dances were formal dances performed by trained dancers. Country dances were dances where anyone could participate. Each dance had specific steps and movements,also ballet.


Most influential dances:

Branle: Is the only circle dance. It is from France. It was a provenance dance, adopted by the aristocrats.

Galliard: It was the most virtuosic dance. It was only for men. It is an athletic dance. It was Queen Elizabeth's I favorite dance.

Pavane:Is a processional dance. It was important because it could be danced by several couples. It was related with the court because of its manners.i
It is still danced today.


Some Dance steps:

Reverence :This was a "greeting" step where the dancers would face each other. They would then slide the left foot back and bend both knees to bow to the other dancer.

Saltarello :This is a lively dance step where the dancer would take three steps forward and then hop.

Italian Double or Doppio :A step where the dancers would take two elegant steps forward and then rise up on their toes.

INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

The industrial revolution started
in 1760 and it ended in 1840,in England.

The industrial revolution had a major impact on the design of musical instruments. Better quality and more durable materials were available to makers, allowing instruments to be made inexpensively and in larger numbers.

Along with Beethoven, composers began to arrange lsaeaerge con ts in order to introduce their works to the public.

The two most famous nineteenth-century examples were the violinist Nicolò Paganini (1782–1840) and the pianist Franz Liszt (1811–1886).

The biggest pieces of music led to new musical forms such as the tone poem and large scale symphonic.

The set of intricate keys,rings and rods on woodwind instruments,was another ingenious invention of the industrial revolution.

The development of valves and their application on brass instruments.

Music has changed a lot because before the music was simple,and now the music is like( pop,rock....) Etc. The instruments were not so well made because they didn't had a lot of things to make them but now the instruments had changed a lot.


THE 1920'S

The 1920's started in 1920 January 1st .
It ended in 1929 in December 31.

  • Greek independence day was on March 25th
  • Denmark & Cuba join the League of Nations on March 8th
  • The 19th Amendment, granted women the right to vote on August 18th
  • The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is created USSR in 1922.
  • Alexander Flemming discovers penicillin in 1928 introducing the antibiotics.

  • Paul Deschanel elected president of France January 17th

In architecture everything became boxy,linear and functional. The style focused on simple shapes simple designs how idea.During the 1920S the main styles were Art Deco that started in Paris and Modern architecture.
The style war a reaction to the old-Gothic architecture. In the 1920S,thoughts on architecture chanced,it was decided that nothing should be put on the architecture unless it was a part of it.

The skyscraper it's also consider the age of the skyscraper.This trend started in Chicago.The majority of the men building these skyscraper in NTC were faster Canadians,because they were order to working up high. The development of structural steel and reinforced concrete allowed relatively small columns. Every tall building cannot be taller than 2000 feet.

Architecture had changed a lot because it's getting modern and people like it and there are new materials and new techniques to build them.

Facts:

On the other hand, Los Angeles has a bigger collection of authentic Art Deco exhibits to be found in its buildings and skyscrapers.

The Eastern Columbia Building has an impressive art deco design made of terracotta known as a sunburst design which is a design of the sun’s rays.

The Bullocks Wilshire Building also has predominant signs of Art Deco.

Art Deco:
The Art Deco style was a vertically oriented, linear design that became popular after a Paris design exhibition, in 1925. Architects used this style mostly for commercial buildings and less for residential. Many of the buildings had metal window casings, square windows cut from a smooth stucco wall and flat roofs adorned with tall towers. The largest concentration of classic Art Deco commercial buildings in the U.S. is in the South Beach district of Miami, Florida.

  • By 1932 10,000 banks have failed since 1929.
  • Roosevelt does much to redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor,1933.
  • Sweden becomes the first nation to recover fully from this, 1934.
  • World War II starts with Hitler's invasion of Poland, 1939.

The 1930s were a period of intense artistic experimentation, as new forms and methods were explored, transformative cultural institutions were founded.

The emblematic cultural institution of Washington State, the Seattle Art Museum, was created and privately funded during the darkest days of the economic crisis, when tens of thousands were losing jobs and homes.

William Cumming may be the most significant of the new artists of the Great Depression.

FACTS ABOUT WILLIAM CUMMING:

William Cumming was born on March 24 ,1917,and he died on November 22, 2010.He was an amazing artist,he was a painter William Cumming also does sketchbooks.

During the 1930’s art was used in many different ways to imply different ideas. Painting was a way to express our self's through the use of colors and images.

The economic crisis of the 1930s focused the attention of Americans on the lives and struggles of ordinary folk.

WORLD WAR II

The world war II started on September 1st in 1939,and it ended on September 2, 1945.

  • September 1st ,1939 Germany invades Poland, initiating World War II in Europe
  • 3 Sept,1939 - Great Britain and France declare war to Germany.
  • Japan surprise attacks united states naval base (Pearl Harbor), Hawaii.
  • British and US navies attacked the Japanese attempted to get naval advance in the central Pacific at Midway.
  • August 9, 1945 The United States drops an atomic bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima (Japan).

1.Why is it important?

When Germany invades Poland it triggers the world war 2.

2.Why is it important?

This is remarkable because it showed to the world that there were countries with alliances with each other,that have conflicts of interests.

3.Why is it important?

It is important because it simulated the United States entrance into the World War 2.

4.Why is it important?

This event was one of the most decisive and important naval battles of World War 2 , this shut down the ambush from Japan. This allowed the United States and it's allies to move into an offensive position.

5.Why is it important?

This major event was one of the biggest situation on the World War 2 because of it damage and results,that were making Japan
surrender by the drop of two atomic bombs.


Describing fashion:

The short supply of clothes made the government influence people to create their own clothes









Influential pieces of clothes:


Many women wore short skirts and sensible 'flat heeled' shoes. Most of their clothes were in a beige color.

Many man normally wore suits and ties even at work mostly grey or dark material ,

Why is fashion important??

Fashion was important because man and woman were able to express their feelings and emotions by the way they dress. Fashion was also used to show power and money.

How did fashion relates to what was occurring in the history?

Their were many sectors affected By the world war 2, fashion was one of them. With limited resources fashion was brought to a new level of creativity with a free pass for designers to innovate their ways of creating clothes. Most designers choose darker colors for man and brighter colors for woman to represent hope.



How did society respond to these pieces of fashion??

Many man and woman were affected by World War 2. Fashion changed, because of the limited resources designers got to find new ways to create pieces of clothes.

Fashion in the 1950s varied very from the beginning to end.

Fashion:

The important thing is that people were beginning to feel a little more freedom when it came to their fashion choices.

The late 1960s were the exact opposite. Bright, swirling colors. Woman wore unbelievably short skirts and men wore tunics and capes.

Fashion in the world:

For the first time in the 19th Century, London, not Paris, was the center of the fashion world.
