Above the Line and Bellow the Line

In every situation,
you are given the choice of how to respond.
Your response will either be above the line
or below the line.

Above The Line Behavior and Actions are...

  • Thought through and purposful
  • Asking how you can help or contribute
  • Taking responsibility for your actions or part in something

Above The Line Behavior and Actions are...

  • Thought through and purposful
  • Asking how you can help or contribute
  • Taking responsibility for your actions or part in something

Below the Line Behaviors and Actions are...

  • Impulsive and selfish actions
  • Not thinking or being on autopiolet
  • Instead of taking responsibility for your actions, pushing blame onto someone else

An example of
an above the line behavior is
owning your actions.

B.C.D.

B.C.D. is an acronym for Blame, Complain, and Defend.
These behaviors are below the line.

When you blame others you are not taking responsibility for
your actions -
that is not above the line behavior.

Complaining does nothing to help your current situation. Complaining only highlights the negatives. If you have an issue with something, take the necessary steps to change it.

When you defend any below the line behavior you are not open to any helpful advice or change.

I like to think that I stay above the line for the most part, but I do often find myself complaining(even if it is just to myself) and then doing nothing to fix what I was complaining about.

E+R=O

The E+R=O formula is about events and how we can determine the out come of an event.

When an event happens in your life it is very important to understand that you have a part in what happens next.

The formula stands for Event + Response = Outcome. You control how you respond, and your response helps to determine the outcome.

The Six Disciplines

There are six R factor disciplines

  • Press Pause
  • Get Your Mind Right
  • Step Up
  • Adujust and Adapt
  • Make a Difference
  • Build Skill

Pressing pause is when you think to yourself how to respond before responding as to avoid saying something irrational.

Getting your mind right is knowing how your feeling and switching it up so that you can be productive.

Stepping up is responding with discipline.

To make a difference you must positively effect those around you.

When you adjust
and adapt
you are changing
for the better.

To build skill you must be intentional on how you develop habits.
