WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO CONFESS SINS?

Rather than helping Christians get closer to God, they are reinforcing the barrier of sin that interrupts their relationship with God. MacArthur describes sin to be discouraging as “Their guilt-free brand of Christianity not only burdens guilty people with more guilt, but also strips away the only means to alleviate the guilt of sin-confession.” Individual would most likely feel pressure and stress because they already know of their wrongdoings.

Christians these days tend tend to make hurtful remarks and shaming those with the wrongdoings, discouraging them —this them further away from feeling peace and letting go. Anger then builds up resulting in depression, sadness, pain, or possibly death. MacArthur states, “In fact, it is because of God's righteous displeasure over your sin that He refuses to leave you the way you are — sinful.”

God’s discipline —involving punishment and consequences for disobedience, is bad. God gives us these experiences because he trains us for the next experience. MacArthur describes the importance of confession, “The pardon of justification and the washing of regeneration do not eliminate the need for you to deal with the subjective reality of sin in your life.”
