UBC ARTS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Program requirements

  • UBC Vancouver Student- Registered in the Faculty of Arts
  • Good academic standing - No GPA Requirements
  • First-year English requirements completed
  • No fees to be in the program: No UBC credit. Voluntary Program
  • International students: study permit includes off-campus work permit

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • 8-12 hours per week | 4-8 months in duration
  • Winter Session - January to April (or longer)
  • Summer Session - May to August (or longer)
  • Organizations are non-profits, social services, arts organizations
  • No fees. No GPA Requirements. No credit.

PROGRAM PROCESS overview

  • Apply to the Arts Internship Program - Deadline October 15
  • Attend Interview process - October 23 & 24
  • Attend Program Orientation - November 5, 6, 12 & 14
  • Gain access to apply to specific internships through Careers Online
  • Organizations contact and select students that fit their needs

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Internships only available to accepted students - no other faculties/ schools
  • Community Partners are in charge of screening process - interviewing
  • Mandatory and Optional Assignments
  • Some site visits, mid-point check-ins and wrap-up sessions
  • Certificate of Completion | Certificate of Excellence

  • Complete application form ( Emailed, from job posting, online)
  • Select interview availability from application. Upload onto C.O
  • Submit ON TIME. Late applications will not be accepted

APPLYING TO INTERNSHIPS - LIVE NOVEMBER 19

  • Create a cover letter and resume for each internship
  • Community partners shortlist candidates and contact students
  • Interviews take place at office locations, in the community or online
  • Support and guidance around this process provided
  • If you are going home in December - must be available for Skype interviews

At the End of your internship...

  • You will receive a UBC Certificate of Completion or Excellence
  • Develop an increased network of professional contacts/connections
  • Gain valuable professional experience and develop your workplace skill set
  • Apply classroom knowledge into a real-world experience.
