In a direct democracy, citizens participate in the decision-making process personally. In a representative democracy, citizens vote on a leader to represent them.

An autocracy is a government is which one person has absolute power. This person makes all decisions concerning their society. There is a few different types of autocracies. The first is a monarchy. In a monarchy, power is passed down through generations. In a traditional monarchy, a king or empire has absolute power. In a constitutional monarchy, the monarch is the head of state. There is little government involvement.

An oligarchy is a government in which a small group of people have power over the society. The people in an oligarchy are often mentored from a young age in the hopes that they will someday rule. They typically come from powerful families. Sometimes, in order to be in an oligarchy, you must own a certain amount of land or make a certain amount of money.
