fixed

These are feast days whose dates are FIXED and occur each year on the SAME DAY. They can be held in remembrance of events in the life of
- Jesus Christ
- The Mother of God
- Saints of our Church

movable

These are feasts which CHANGE each year and all depend on the date of EASTER. Easter falls on different calendar dates from year to year and is calculated according to a strict set of rules.

These feast days occur BEFORE or AFTER Easter.

Despotic

Feast days which are held in remembrance of OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST are called Despotic feast days.

The word 'Despotic' comes from the word 'Lord'.

Theometoric

Feast days which are held in remembrance of the MOTHER OF OUR LORD are called THEORMETORIC feast days.

The word 'Theometoric' is a compound word which means the Mother of God:

THEOS=GOD + METORIC= MOTHER
