THE CUMULUS CLOUD

  • The cumulus cloud is 330 feet above the ground.
  • Cumulus clouds have flat base.
  • Cumulo - means pile or heap in Latin.

STRATUS CLOUD

  • Formed by rising thermals.
  • Stratus is used to describe flat,hazy,and featureless.
  • Under 6,000 feet (2,000m).

CIRRUS CLOUD

  • Cirrus forms Above 2,000 feet (6,000m).
  • The cloud is thin and wispy.
  • Cirrus means ringlet or curling lock of hair in Latin.

FOG

  • Fog is a type of stratus cloud.
  • Fog is low-lying.
  • Happens more near a body of water.

NIMBUS CLOUD

  • Reaches the ground as rain,sleet,or hail.
  • Nimbus clouds have low altitudes.
  • Nimbus clouds spread across the sky.
