Types of chemical reaction

  • Synthesis Reaction
  • Decomposition Reaction
  • Combustion Reaction
  • Single Displacement Reaction
  • Double Displacement Reaction

Synthesis Reaction

  • A type of chemical reaction.
  • Two or more substances combine together to form a new product.
  • The product is always a compound.
  • It is one of the most known types of chemical reactions.

Decomposition Reactions

  • Is one of the most common types of reactions.
  • A compound is broken into smaller chemical species.
  • Type of chemical reaction.

Combustion reaction

  • Is a type of chemical reaction.
  • Occurs between fuel and oxidizing agent that produces energy.
  • Reaction are exothermic meaning they produce heat.
  • Always involves molecular oxygen 02.

Single Displacement Reaction

  • Also named Single Replacement Reaction.
  • is a type of oxidation-reduction chemical reaction.
  • All single displacement reactions are also known as oxidation reactions.
  • All simple metal with acid reactions are single displacement reactions.

Double displacement reaction

  • A Type of chemical reaction.
  • Occur when two ionic compounds are mixed.
  • Include precipitation, gas forming reactions, and neutralization reactions
  • Occurs when at least one of the products is insoluble in water.

Oxidation-reduction reaction

  • When natural gas burn oxidation-reduction reaction occurs.
  • Oxidation-reduction reactions are used to burn sugars, such as glucose.
  • The tarnishing of silver is a broad class of oxidation-reduction reaction.
