TROPICAL SAVANNAS

TROPICAL SAVANNA CLIMATE

  • Humid climate with annual percipitation
  • 10 to 30 inches of rain in December - February
  • Throughout the rest of they year the savanna gets hardly and rainfall
  • Winter Temperatures 68'F to 86'F
  • Summer Temperatures 78'F to 86'F

  • East Africa

  • Columbia
  • Venezuela

PLANT SPECIES

  • Grasses are a dominant plant life and can grow from 6 to 9 feet tall
  • Acacia and Baobab trees are most common n tropical savannas
  • These plants developed an adaptation that allows them to grow quickly
  • Baobab tree survives by only producing leaves during the wet season
  • Small size leaves help limit water loss

ANIMAL SPECIES

  • Common animals in the tropical savanna is giraffes, elephants, zebras, and rhinos
  • Tall animals adapt to the environmet by storing away food n water for dry season
  • Giraffes are only able to get little food due to the dome shaped trees

MAJOR CONFLICTS

  • Major conflicts in Tropical Savannas is wildfires
  • They can occur in a wet or dry environment
  • These wildfires can last for weeks n spread thousands of miles.

POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS

  • We have established a charity to help raise money
  • With this money we built a fire station near the savanna
  • This helps to tame the spread of the fire and to protect the animals
