TROPICAL CONTINENTAL CLIMATE

LOCATION

• It occurs from 10 to 20 North and south of the Equator
• Examples include: Llanos in Venezuela, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria, 
• Campos in Brazil

CLIMATE

• There are two distinct seasons - a wet and a dry season.
• Temperatures are high, just before the summer months
• Rain falls in summer, it is light and of convectional type

TEMPERATURE

• There is a hot and wet and a hot and dry season
• The climate is hot for most of the year, summer temperatures go over 32*C
• The hottest period coincides with the months just before the rainy seasons
• (March, April and May)

RAINFALL

• Rainfall is influenced by the dry Trade Winds in winter and the ITCZ in 
• summer. 
• This tropical wet and dry  climate receives under 750 mm of rainfall per
• annum.
