PURPOSE

  • To determine the effect of sleep patterns on athletic performance.

WHAT KIND?

  • Interventional
  • Randomized
  • Subjects will be monitored as they sleep.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ages 13-20
  • Willing to participate
  • Must not have Arrhythmia
  • Must not have any illnesses

STAKEHOLDERS

  • Athletes- curious about out ome of study
  • Coaches- concerned about health and performance of athletes
  • Doctors- want to conduct the experiment for the purpose of science
  • Family- concern of test subject's welfare

BENEFITS AND RISKS

  • Benefit- discovering connection between sleep and athletic performance
  • Risk- possible lack of sleep or bruising from blood tests

  • I would enroll in this study because there is minimal-
  • risk for a well intentioned study.
  • Benifits are maximized and harms are minimized.
  • Athletes are interested in the study for their own benefit.
  • Saying no could be justified to being lazy or having no interest in the study.
