WHAT IS THE DISASTER

The great Tri-State tornado of Wednesday March 18 1925 is the most deadliest tornado in the u.s history. The Tri-state tornado inflicted 695 fatalities, the tornado killed more than twice as many as the second deadliest, in 1840 Great Natchez Tornado.

WHEN DID IT OCCUR?

Tri-state tornado occurred in 1925 in the u.s.

WHERE DID IT OCCUR?

Occurred in 1925, traveled through Southern Missouri and through to southwestern Indiana.

DEATH TOLL

34 people lost their lives. 40 minutes later another 541 people died. 1,423 people were seriously injured.

DEATH TOLL LONG TERM

In the long run 695 people died from the tornado.

COST TO RECOVER

$1.4 billion dollars worth was destroyed by the tornado.

WORST IN HISTORY

The tornado was most likely to be an F5, though tornadoes were not ranked in that area. Holds records for the longest path length at 352KM, longest duration 3.5 hours and fastest forward speed 11.7KM/h anywhere on earth. In record it is the deadliest tornado in United States history.
