• Jim Hawkins states that he often heard Billy bones singing in the Hispaniola yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum.

• Trelaway tells Smollett that he is the captain so it is for him to speak (Stevenson ,52).
• This illustrates that Trealaway is a well educated man that has good morals in regards to Smollett.

Patriotism

• Trelaway and Smollett' fidelity to the British Union Jack Flag is shown through their way of disciplining one another in regards of their journey.

• Union is symbolized through the colors .
• red symbolizes blood
• white symbolizes goodness
• Blue symbolizes loyalty

In essence, If Stevenson’s story wouldn’t have shown the flags symbolic meaning through Square Trelaway and captain Smollett authentic form of fidelity between the pirates. Then maybe the flags wouldn’t have had a form of symbolism in the story. In reality every flag are patriotic symbols that delivers a message and purpose.
