In "Self- Reliance", Emerson said, "Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string" (Emerson.)

In "Self-Reliance" and Soul Surfer both authors tell their audience to pursuit their happiness even if it is difficult.

• In Carry on, Fun tells their audience to forget about the past and to continue on with life.

In "A Psalm Of Life" Longfellow said, "Let the dead Past bury its dead! Act,- act in the presence of living!

Both Carry on and "A Psalm Of Life" express that you shouldn't let the past bring us down. We should learn and grow stronger from it.
