Torino is a city and an important buisness area in northern Italy.
Two popular places in Torino are Stadio Olimpico Di Torino home to Torino FC the soccer team the other popular place is Torino Palasport Olimpica which is a multipurpse place for sport and concerts it is also a few meters away from the Olympic Stadium
ABOUT TORINO GAMES
In 2006 Turin, Italy held the Winter Olympic Games.
There were 80 countries participating in the XX games including
Australia, Italy, Russia, Great Britain and Netherlands.
TORINO MEDALS
Torino medals are one of the largest medals ever in the Winter Olympic history, with a diameter of 107mm.

Weights: 469g (gold), 465g (silver), 455g (bronze)
Shape: Round with an empty opening in the middle
HOW ITALY PERFORMED
Italy performed very well, finishing ninth in the medal tally. Some great performances were from Enrico Fabris winning gold in Men's 1500 Speed Skating and in the Team Pursuit. He also own bronze in Men's 5000.
BIDDING
Italy won the bidding for the 2006 Winter Olympics in the first round. They won it over Switzerland, Finland, Austria, Slovakia and Poland. Italy and Switzerland were the only countries that actually made a bid.

There were 84 events in 7 sports (15 Disciplines). There were approximately 2,508 athletes competing, there were 45 events for men, 37 for women and 2 mixed pairs.
