HISTORY OF PACKAGING

• Before 1800's: tooth creams and powders were stored in jars
• 1800's: 1873- Colgate made first mass produced toothpaste in jar
• 1892- a flexible metal tube was invented to store toothpaste
• 1896- Colgate began using the metal tubes for their toothpaste
• 1940's- Due to the war, Colgate began to use plastic in their tubes
