Poverty in developing Countries

-Poverty-The state of being extremely poor.
-How does it affect us?-
-Poverty can lead to a less competitive economy and can drive prices up.
-people can’t buy/afford goods, businesses go out of business because no one is buying the goods, the goods aren’t produced as often, making them more rare and expensive.

How It Started

How it started:
-Blake went on vacation in Argentina, he noticed many local polo players were wearing shoes by the name of alpargatas.
-there design was a simple slip-on canvas shoe, which became the original design for TOMS shoes
-volunteering on the outskirts of Buenos Aries many children were running around barefoot. he noticed no shoes was a huge problem in lots of developing countries
-This problem threatened them to not be able to attend school and made them more likely to get infections and more.

What is the strategy?
-One for One
--for every purchase, TOMS will donate a product of equal value to a child in a developing country
---Shoes
---Eye wear
---sell coffee, fund clean water supplies

How is it received by the public?
-Some developing countries are Malawi, Haiti and Peru

A Positive Affect

--A positive affect: One woman, named carmita, who lived in Haiti had started working at the TOMS shoe factory in Haiti. She came home one day with her first paycheck. It was the first she had gotten from the factory and the first Carmita had received in her life.

--In Many of these countries, they are getting good products and many are now employed. Just like Carmita.
