The Witch instead shows her true self and is cruel to Edmund, giving him only stale bread and water. She then sends her wolves to kill Edmund's siblings. The Witch gets her sledge and begins a journey into the cold winter toward Aslan. She makes Edmund sit next to her without a coat. It is during this ride that Edmund finally wishes he would have stayed with his brother and sisters instead of siding with the evil Witch. On the way, they see the land and rivers around them begin to change as if it were spring.

The White Witch made Narnia winter forever and got rid of Christmas.

Winter symbolizes a cruel and cold witch. “Meanwhile the dwarf whipped up the reindeer, and the Witch and Edmund drove out under the archway and on and away into the darkness and the cold."

Aslan is the true king of Narnia.

Spring symbolizes that Aslan is starting to move. “This is Spring. What are we to do? Your winter has been destroyed, I tell you! This is Aslan’s doing.”

The change of winter to spring symbolizes the weakening of the witch's power and Aslan's beginning to move. The melting of snow and the coming of spring indirectly show Aslan's victory over the witch's power.
