PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Summary
instead of criminal prosecution they want to do repairing harm systems. They're doing this to bring people closer together. Make people at least get along. Mass incarceration isn't really make a difference.

People are still committing crimes. It fundamentally misunderstands the nature of human motivation. Sending cops to jail will undoubtedly produce a kind of short-term catharsis for the many victims of police misconduct and those that support them.

It doesn't make them any safer or reduce the power or predilections of police to go on victimizing poor people of color.

What did you discover (after doing more research)?
After doing more research I couldn't find any article or evidence of an official program for communities doing restorative practice as a nation but I was able to find out that there are communities for restorative practice out there that involve police officers.

• Is the program still functioning?
Yes These programs are still functioning

If the program is only just being implemented, what is their goal?
The goal for these programs is to bring communities closer and send less people to jail to break the tension.

What could we do in our own community to make a change similar to the one you
researched?
We could try to use restorative practices in our community for minor offenses.

• What limitations or roadblocks may exist to prevent the program from being
implemented?
The city or citizens refusing to contribute.
