7 PRINCIPLES

SET ASIDE TIME TO TALK

• Schedule time. (Don't just squeeze it in)
• Not just in crisis situations (meeting when you're strong and focused can be equally beneficial)

LISTEN FIRST

• Resist any urge to give advice right away
• “To answer before listening— that is folly and shame.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:13‬ ‭

Ask GOOD QUESTIONS

• Ask your friend how you can challenge him/her.
• “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:24‬

PRAISE EVERY VICTORY

• Look for small changes over time and point out that you notice them.
• Remember, even the willingness to sit down and talk, is itself a step in the right direction.

PLAN PREVENTATIVE STEPS

• Brainstorm practical ways you can put a wall between yourselves and the temptation.
• Have an action plan

TAP INTO +motivation

• Ask, “What do we have to gain in life by avoiding these temptations?
• Instead of giving into this temptation, what kind of people do we want to become?”

TAP INTO -MOTIVATION

• Ask, “If you continue doing this over and over, what do you stand to lose in your life?”
• Remind each other of the cost involved.

• Have you taken specific steps to develop that habit?

• When it comes to habitual sins, is there a time of day, a place, a person, or a mood that tends to open the door to more tempting situations?

• What's the one thing you hope none of your Accountability Partners ask you about?

• Are you resting completely in what Christ has done for you?
• Are you obsessing about failures?
• Are you putting stock in your own performance?

QUESTIONS TO ASK

• What are you tempted to make a chief source of significance, satisfaction, and fulfillment in your life?
• What is competing with Christ for first place in your heart?
