MILITARY MENTAL ILLNESS

BY: MATT WHITE
Hello my name is Matt White and I will be presenting the mental illnesses soldiers face during war and how we can help veterans when they return from service.

Many soldiers face anxiety before a battle or when they return from war. They face many hard times coming back into society because many sounds or pictures they see and hear that triggers their anxiety. We can help them in their hard times by comforting them when they are stressed and to help protect them from things that trigger their anxiety.

Many soldier also are faced with the difficulty of fighting guilt. Soldiers wonder why they came back while others did not. They would rather have died than to live with seeing the other soldiers die. These soldiers suffer from experiences that make them feel at fault for the other soldiers' death and would rather have died than to stay alive. Many soldiers commit suicide because they cannot win the battle. We can help them in their troubles by comforting them when they think it is their fault and protecting them from committing suicide.

The last mental illness soldiers face is trauma. Military personnel face times of disturbing images when serving and they are haunted by them for the rest of their lives. Soldiers have nightmares about their gruesome experiences during their life after and many suffer from PTSD for the rest of their life. We can help the veterans by giving them medical treatment and we can also give them support when they are going through a difficult series of events because of their trauma.

HOW CAN WE HELP

Now that you have seen some of the many psychological illnesses that soldiers face, here is how we can help. As I have said before we can comfort them and give them support when they need it. We can give them support and help them by giving them medical support and put them in a Veteran Support Hospital or Care Center.
