AZTEC CIVILIZATION

In 1325 the Aztec religion and tribe started with different culture and belief.They migrated down south to lake texcoco were a leader saw an eagle standing in a cactus ,it was a sign for a new homeland.

As the Aztec tribe lived on lake texcoco their engineers made their city on top of the lake. Then they called the land tenochitlan .The Aztec tribe grew and grew until they became a powerful empire on 1449.

Finally on 1519 Herman Cortes landed on Mexico , a Spanish general who traveled to look for land.He then later conquered Mexico by killing the Aztec leader Mactezuma II and taking over the whole Aztec empire.

AZTEC GOVERNMENT

  • Aztecs had a king/emperor who ruled over all
  • Emperor was chosen from nobles and priest
  • Nobles served as judges officials and governors
  • Most of their crimes were punished by death or slavery
  • Those who did not belive in aztec religions were killed

AZTEC RELIGION

  • Human sacrifices for gods
  • ABout 20,000 sacrifices a year.
  • Bodies taken on the pyramids and had their hearts taken out
  • Most of them were slaves
  • The persons head that was sacrificed was hanged in the bottom of the pyramid

AZTEC ECONOMY

  • Economy based on agricultures
  • They made people pay the emperor with money or food
  • They farmed corn , beans and rice to sell or give.

AZTEC CULTURE

  • The women were forced to learn how to cook and take care of their children
  • Boys were trained to fight and also educated
  • Male adults worked in building pyramids or any other plan they had
  • Male were also educated in engineering theor buildings
  • All the foods came from different tribes when the others joined the aztecs

  • Aztecs were known as the best engineers.
  • The aztecs used to be called mexicas
  • 1350 largest city-state in the world
  • Teotihucan was a big pyramid built for the god of sun.
  • It took 200 years to build the whole empire.
