PRESENTATION OUTLINE
LAND OF CICONES
-At The island Odysseus men beat some of the men on the island, took plunder and enslaved women.
-Odysseus told them to come back but they didn't listen and had a BBQ.
-The army of the cicones came on horse back and attacked them.

LOTUS EATERS
-At the island of the lotus eaters Odysseus sends men to explore.
- They ate the lotus flower and never wanted to return.
- Odysseus had to save them.

ISLAND OF THE CYCLOPS
-Odysseus is curious and wants to go to the island of the cyclops, endangering his men.
- Once in Polyphemus cave he burns an offering to Zeus.
-Polyphemus notices them and starts eating the men, 2 at a time.
- Odysseus was smart and knew not to kill the beast because they couldn't move the stone blocking the way out.
-He stabes the cyclops in the eye with a stake and escapes on belly of sheep.

ISLAND OF AEOLUS
-Aeolus, god of the winds,
gives Odysseus a bag of winds to help him get home safely.
-His crew disobey orders and open the bag letting the wind escape.

LAESTRYGONIAS
-This is the land of the gigantic cannibals.
-Here, all of the ships but Odysseus are destroyed and the men eaten.

ISLAND OF CIRCE
-Circe's island is a beautiful place where she tricks some of Odysseus men and turns them to pigs.
-With the help of Hermes he saves his men. They stay on the island for a long time with Circe.

LAND OF THE DEAD
-Odysseus goes to the land of the dead to find out his destiny.
-He talked to the blind prophet Teiresias who tells him his destiny and gives him advice.

CIRCE'S ISLAND
-Odysseus receives a warning about three obstacles he is about to face.

SIRENS
-Sirens are Beauties that bewitch men by their beautiful singing.
-Circe tells Odysseus to put wax in his men's ears so they can't here them and tie Odysseus to the mast so he can be the only one to hear them and live.

SCYLLA AND CHARYBDIS
-Scylla is a 6 headed monster who will eat 6 men.
-Charybdis is a large violent whirlpool that will kill all the men and destroy the ship.

SUN GOD (Helios)
-Odysseus tells his men not to eat the sun god's cattle.
-Storms stop them from leaving the island and they run out of food.
-While Odysseus is asleep they feast on the cows and Helios asks Zeus to punish them.
-Zeus destroys the ship killing all but Odysseus.

CALYPSO'S ISLAND
-Odysseus lands on Calypso's island.
-She keeps him there for 7 years until Hermes tells her to let him go and she promises him a raft.

-Odysseus is found by the daughter of Allcinous.
-Odysseus is treated well at the banquet they throw for him.
-Odysseus tells them who he is and about his journey.
