WHAT IS A THUNDERSTORM?

  • A thunderstorm is an intense storm with strong winds.
  • Thunderstorms also have heavy rain involved with them.
  • Lighting is also sometimes included in a thunderstorm.
  • After the lighting strikes it is followed by a deep sound.
  • This sound is commonly referred to as thunder.

HOW DO THEY FORM?

  • The action of warm air rising and cold air sinking.
  • The most important things are unstable air and moisture.
  • Supercell thunderstorms occur when very strong updrafts and downdrafts

WHY ARE THEY DANGEROUS

  • Thunderstorms can be dangerous because the lightning can strike things
  • When lighting strikes in places it can burns things like houses
  • Lighting can also strike and kill people
