There once was a young boy named Bill.
Who was scared by the sight of a drill.
He brushed every day.
So his dentist would say,
"Your teeth are so perfect; no Jill."

SIMILE AND METAPHOR

O Hayde! my mother! our awesome trip is done,
The car has a full tank of gas, the price we paid was so sad,
McDonald's is near, the food I smell, the people are eating like animals,
While I'm just sitting in the car, waiting to stop and eat hamburgers
But O my stomach! O my stomach! Stomach!
My poor tummy that won't get filled with hamburgers.
And at the end I never got my hamburgers,

IMAGERY

The sun in the sky is heavenly
The singing birds are sounding like a beautiful choir
The flowers smelling Downey
The grass is feeling like a big white fluffy white blanket
The apples are tasting bitter sweet
And the children outside playing like there's no tomorrow

PERSONIFICATION

The desert is on fire,
The sand wriggles away
As the Egyptians pass.
Camels struggle to get across the Desert
Pyramids stand boldly
As they watch travelers pass

The tree shape I blew
From a little drop of paint
Looks like a dancer

ALLITERATION & ASSONANCE

If you are a dreamer, come in,
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin
Come in!

ONOMATOPOEIA

The wind comes
Running
Whoosh!
Suns sunny sunshine
Loving water
And the
Sounds of....
Graceful
Waves

FREE VERSE

A white sun
In a pink sky
Is set
Into the flesh of her thumb....
As she looks
Across her fingers
The sun descends
and is gone

NARRATIVE POEM

Elsa? Knock knock knock knock knock!
Do you want to build a snowman?
Come on let's go and play
I never see you anymore
Come out the door
It's like you've gone away!
We use to be best buddies
And now were not
I wish you would tell me why
Do you want to build a snowman
It doesn't have to be a snowman

PERSONAL

I am Hispanic and athletic
I wonder about world hunger
I hears birds chirping
I see people walking the streets
I want to make it to the big leagues
I am Hispanic and athletic

I pretend to laugh at a dumb joke
I feel good when I score a goal
I touch the soccer ball with my feet
I worry about someone making a goal on me
I cry for when someone tells me the saddest news
I am Hispanic and athletic

I understand that math is hard
I say that talent is gained when someone isn't watching
I dream that one day everything will be easy
I try really hard in soccer games
I hope people get to follow their dreams
I am Hispanic and athletic

LYRIC

If I punch you in the face, I will follow it
By stopping, ending the punching, a synchronized
Swim between Hispanic twins, and at first,
Three jazz hands
I would sing a skull
If you say tomato
What do I say?
Tomato, tomato!

FREE CHOICE

When you really want something.
Sometimes you have to swim a little
deeper.... You can't give up just because things don't come easy....
You have to overcome the obstacles
And face your fears
But in the end, it's all worth
While!
