Ancient Muslims were very inventive and intellegent People for their time.

MUslim BAckground Information

  • They invented many products that have changed the modern world
  • For example,  the camera obscura,  the clock and water wheels
  • Calligraphy was also an important achievement,  but not most important
  • Calligraphy is the art of beautiful writing

Algebra

  • Al-Khwarizimi is considered the ''Father of Algebra''
  • Algebra is used to solve problems involving unknown numbers
  • Al-Khwarizmi wrote al-Kitab al-mukhtasar fi hisab al-jabr w'al-muqabala
  • The name "algebra" actually came from the book, which is on algebra
  • The book (translated) was very important to eastern and western scholars

Algebra's Importance

  • Algebra is and has been very important to the world
  • It's aided people in finding some of the world's most important discoveries
  • For example, computers, medicines and the formula for energy
  • Algebra affects everyday life too!
  • It's also used for budgeting, managing time and other key things

Hospitals

  • Muslim doctors established the world's first hospitals
  • Hospitals served as training centers for doctors learning the craft
  • In medieval times the government payed for all Islamic medical expenses
  • There were also caravans that took medical care to outlaying villages
  • By the 10th Century Baghdad even had five hospitals!

Hospitals' Importance

  • Hospitals are important for MANY reasons!
  • Hospitals provide a safe place where expert doctors and nurses cure people
  • They save lives daily and help people get better!
  • It helps a community centralize all the medical equipment they need
  • It helps people have an efficent place to get medical care

The Discovery of Infections being caused by  Bacteria

  • Al-Razi discovered that infections are caused by bacteria
  • Al-Razi also was the first to distinguish between smallpox and measles
  • That was very important for his time because nobody else had done that
  • This shaped the way medical research was interpreted forever

Importance of the discovery of infections being caused by bacteria

  • This discovery was very important in many ways to many people on earth
  • Many vaccines and medicines were invented because of this discovery
  • Also many disease outbreaks that would've killed millions were prevented
  • This Islamic advancement put medical research ahead of it's time
