EARLY LIFE

  • Was born on April 13,1743 in Shadwell, Virginia.
  • Jefferson lived on a plantation with slaves.
  • Jefferson studied ATD boarding and at Williams and Mary college in Williamsburg, Virginia .
  • In 1776 he became a lawyer.

  • The author of Declaration of Independence.
  • In 1775 with the American revolutionary war under way, Jefferson was selected as a delegate to the 2 continental congress.

  • After the Americans won independence from Great Britain Jefferson held political office almost continuously until his retirement in 1809.
  • Jefferson died on July 4,1826
  • In 1809 Jefferson retired to Monticello where he wrote,looked after his estate, and entertained friends.
