WHAT IS THE THIRTY YEARS WAR?

The thirty years war is. War between protestantes and Catholics. They were not only fighting for religion but they were also fighting for territory.

CAUSES OF THE WAR

CAUSES OF THE WAR

  • Both the Protestant & Catholic princes wanted more followers.
  • They all wanted the same territory.
  • Ferndinand II closed protestant churches.
  • There was many conflicts such as Emperor VS the Princes.
  • Other conficts such as France VS Hapsburgs.

PHASES OF THE WAR

BOHEMIAN PHASE

  • The Emperor sends people to Prague to talk to Protestants.
  • They were thrown out a window, into a compost pile.
  • Emperor takes down the Protestants Princes.

DANISH PHASE

  • The Danish King sends army to protect Protestants.
  • Gustavus Adolphis & protestants become succesful.
  • Gustavus Adolphis was killed at war.
  • France than become protestants, & helps them become victorious.
  • Emperor signs a peace treaty.

SWEDISH PHASE

  • Wallenstein was once again put in charge
  • Gustavus Adolphus was killed at war.
  • Defeat in the Battle or Nordingen ended the Swedish Phase.

FRANCE PHASE

  • French wanted to move Spanish Outposts.
  • The Peace of Westphalia reduced Hapsburg power.
  • Alaace became part of France.
