my family are pretty normal.

for a given value of normal

my family are pretty normal

my daughter is my superhero

With all the destructive abilities implied

i collect hobbies

  • sailing
  • ju jitsu
  • yoga
  • fencing (with swords, not wood)
  • spanish dancing
  • books
  • wine
  • campervan maintanence
with no real time for any of them

i originally trained in ballet and musical theater...

I originally wanted to be a dancer, and spent a number of years trying to achieve this (without success)

...enjoyed a variety of jobs including first mate, hotel guest manager and running a market stall...

I have been first mate on charter boats, worked at hotels and restaurants, and sold vegetables on a farmers' market - I still do that by the way

...before choosing PR, marketing, and ultimately, events.

until finally ending up in communications about 15 years ago

face-to-face communications

build trust, understanding, and a real sense of a shared mission
I love events...

...and believe that the immersive, face-to-face, all five senses engaged environment of an event can - ultimately - drive engagement and build deeper relationships with a brand.

"if you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got"

There were two quotes that I had suck above the desk my first events company:

(look at screen)

events need to innovate and excite....

"never try and teach a pig to sing. it doesn't work and it annoys the pig"

BUT....

(look at screen)

Innovation without purpose, gimmicks without a message, don't work and can be counter productive.

people - ideas - purpose

So, I think that the three things that excite me as an individual, are the same three things that are central to a successful event: people, ideas and purpose
