That impacted child development

Martin Luther 1483-1546

  • He translated the Bible from Latin to vernacular language, which influenced universal -A lot of have a early childhood program to support their religious values, belief and culture.

John Comenius ( 1592-1670 )

  • He wrote “ Orbis Pictus “ the first children’s picture book. -Early learning helps determine school and life success

John Locke ( 1632-1704 )

  • -Said children are born as blank tablets, therefore learning should begin early. -influenced early childhood programs for 3 and 4 year olds to help prepare them for kindergarten.

Maria Montessori

  • 1870-1952
  • She believed that the curriculum should be based of the child’s interests.
  • Now there are many Montessori schools. All which are based of her beliefs.

National Defense Education Act 1958

  • Act 1958. -They provided federal funding for science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and foreign language education

The ESEA of 1965

  • Provided money to help educate children that belong to families with low income. This helped the children in many ways it gave them free or reduced lunch, The schools also used fund to provide additional academic support, and learning opportunities so the less fortunate kids can master what they have problems with in school.

The education of all handicapped children act 1975. - In order for a program to receive federal funds they must implement a policy that will help all children with disabilities

  • -Teachers plan to meet each child’s needs , and allow diversity in classrooms.

  • -Made sure all children were learning at their grade level. NCLB provided federal funding to schools with high test scores.

American Recovery And Reinvestment Act 2009

  • -Known as the stimulus package. It provided 2.1 billion to improve the quality of Early childhood education, Early head start, and schools. It helped rebuild the economy

Race To The Top Early Learning Challenge 2011.

  • They focused on improving learning and development programs for young children, that’s less fortunate or disabled.

Every Child Succeeds Act 2015.

  • -Created by president Obama, every child no matter race, income, or location deserves a chance to make their life better.
