Collections and 3D immersion
The Yellow House project supports UOW Library 2015 strategic objective 6.2: Develop our capacity as a digital university, capitalising on the rise in digital content and new technologies and their impact on how teaching and research information is accessed and distributed - Scope collections for immersive information experience environments.

The object of the project is to utilise UOW Library collections to support research, teaching and learning.

Transform engagment with information

  • AIM: Build and deliver an OA virtual environment and learning portal focussed on Australian counter culture
  • OLT Seed Grant submission

Artist community - 57-59 Macleay St Potts Point

1970-72
The Yellow House was an artist community set up by Martin Sharp and Albie Thoms in Sydney between 1970-72.

The building became a piece of art and a performance space.

The external and internal walls were painted and repainted.

Music, dance, film and multimedia performace took place within and about the Yellow House.

The Stone Room

The rooms reflect art history and the personal tastes and expression of the artists involved, such as Martin Sharp and Brett Whiteley.

Deliverables

3D immersive environment, teaching & research projects
The project seeks to achieve the following:

1. The creation of a 3D immersive environment replicating the Yellow House utilising Oculus Rift technology.

2. Use of the Yellow House collections in teaching programs.

3. Use of the Yellow House collections in research programs.

4. Publication and promotional opportunities.

5. Scholarly communication and collaboration opportunities.

UOW Library collections

images, audio, video, publications, art works
UOW Library collections will be sourced for this project, The will include:

* OZ magazine.

* Living Daylights magazine.

* Roger Foley Yellow House collecton.

* Martin Sharp art works.

Materials will be digitised for use within the project and in association with the project.

The collections will comprise images, audio, video, publications and art works.
