WHO WAS INVOLVED IN THE WAR

  • The U.S. played a huge roll in the war
  • The United Kingdom was the U.S's allie they helped attack
  • The Tabilan military helped the afghans Fight In The War

The three phases of the war
-phase 1 was the Taliban phase witch was brief it only lasted 2 months
-phase 2 lasted from 2002-2008 during that time the U.S defeated the Taliban military and started rebuilding core institutions with Afghanistan.
-The third phase, a turn to classic counterinsurgency doctrine, began in 2008 and accelerated with U.S. Pres. Barack Obama’s 2009 decision to temporarily increase the U.S. army for attack of Afghanistan

HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE KILLED

  • There were between 18,000 and 20,000 civilians killed
  • 2,201 U.S military deaths134 fatalities, as well as 1,173 U.S. civilian fatalities
  • On 2 May 2011, United States Navy SEALs killed Osama bin Laden in Abbotabad

WHEN DID THE WAR END

  • In May 2014 the United States announced that its combat operations would end in2015
