Ibn Battuta
In 1325, Ibn was able to witness trade in Africa. He wrote that he saw the people trade wool, leather, and wax. At one point he was staying at a collage in Tunis and was able to participate in it for 2 months and meet with scholars and judges in high positions.

In 1326 he reached the major city of Alexandria, Egypt and he was able to see the Pharaohs lighthouse which was one of the 7 Wonders of the World at that time.

In 1328, Ibn was able to encounter Muslim culture and was seen as a respectable man and was thrown a feast by the local officials.

In 1272, Marco Polo entered the court of powerful Mongol ruler Khubilai Khan, who dispatched him on trips to help administer the realm.

In 1275, Marco was welcomed into the Chinese culture by Kublai Khan, Khan eventually employed Marco as a special envoy.
During this time he was able to see Khan's palace.

In 1295, Marco Polo was captured in battle by Venice’s archrival Genoa, and met the Arthurian adventure writer Rustichello of Pisa. While they were in prison they both discussed about all the things they've seen in their travels, like all the trade they witnessed and the great ideas other cultures had.
