רבן יוחנן בן זקי wanted to escape from ירושלים so he pretended to be dead. After they lay him in his coffin he ran to Vespasian and told him that he was the emperor. Since he wasn't he didn't believe him so he told him to get out. As soon as this happened a messenger came and told Vespasian that the old emperor had died and he was the new one. Because of this he granted רבן יוחנן בן זקי three wishes.
