  • He has forbidden a friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and unexpected consequences.

  • These are two boys born on the same day, two similar boys yet two very different realities.
  • Bruno had a comfortable family but shmuel had no resources.
  • Bruno and shmuel are very close friends but bruno does not understand shmuel and his side of the fence.

They are close friends even though

  • They have different family situations.
  • Shmuel is stuck behind a fence in a concentration camp.

Even though they are different,

  • Bruno sneaks in food for Shmuel
  • Bruno tried to help him find Shmuel's father
  • Also, he plays ball with him so that Shmuel wouldn't feel lonely.

In conclusion, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas shows that it does not matter how different people are; they can still be friends.
