The Stupid Entrepreneur

Dr. John X. Volker and Dr. Michael D. Phillips

What were they thinking?

We are attempting to categorize entrepreneurial decisions; especially those that result in negative consequences for the firm or stakeholders.

According to Kaufman any act that lessens the distance between the desired state and an actual state.

We found Kaufman's definition of intelligent behavior to be very workable for our study. We didn't want to get into a discussion of IQ.

what is stupid behavior?

We wanted a simple definition to base our study on.

Any ACT that does not lessen the distance between the actual state and the desired state.

We took the reverse of Kaufman's definition as our definition of a stupid act.
