THE GREAT BLUE HOLE FACTS.

  • It is 60 miles off the coast of Belize in Belize in North America.
  • Undersea explorer Jacques Cousteau was the person who made the blue whole famous in 1971 by putting the blue hole in 1 of the top ten best diving places in the world.
  • The blue hole had started off as limestone cave in the last ice age.
  • The blue hole is 465 feet deep.

  • This ridge that lies in the ocean could be nearly freezing and it could reach hot to 750 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • This ridge is active with hot magma and volcano activity.
  • A hypothermal vent is a geyser that's located on the surface of the sea.
  • These geysers can be found in the east Pacific Ocean, mid Atlantic ridge, and the southeast Indian ridges.
